WWN members in Asia or Oceania may be able to help their government implement wetland conservation and wise use by means of the Nagao Wetland Fund. The following information comes from the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention:
The Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands have opened the call for applications for 2022 Nagao Wetland Fund (NWF) proposals.
NWF was launched in 2015 through a generous voluntary support from the Nagao Natural Environment Foundation in Japan. The NWF is intended to support Contracting Parties in the Asia and Oceania regions (included in the DAC List of ODA recipients) on small-scale projects, with a maximum offer of USD 18,000 per project. The NWF is particularly interested in receiving applications for projects, which aim to deepen scientific knowledge and/or raise the environmental awareness of the general public. The projects should be identified as a national priority by the Contracting Party in the implementation of the Convention’s Strategic Plan 2016-2024. The deadline for submissions of 2022 NWF proposals are 1 April 2022.
To those who are interested, the Secretariat plan to organize a webinar on 23 February, 2022 at 09:00 (Central European Time) on how to prepare successful proposals. Please register to this webinar at https://contacts.ramsar.org/webinars.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation e-mail containing information how to join the webinar. All registrants will receive afterwards a link to the recording of the webinar – so please register even if you cannot attend the live event.
Furthermore, the Please refer to the Nagao Wetland Fund (NWF) operational guidelines (2022 revision) for more information. All project proposals MUST be submitted using the “Request for Funding” Form included as Section B, which should be endorsed by the Ramsar Administrative Authority in your country.
The Secretariat offers an advisory service to those developing proposals that wish to seek further guidance. For this assistance, project developers are invited to submit draft project proposals to the Secretariat before 10 March 2022, at the latest. All correspondence to this email and inquiries must be directed to the Assistant Advisor for Asia/Oceania Region, Ms. Dorsa Sheikholeslami.
