Colleagues from New Zealand marked World Wetland Day with a Bioblitz at Lake Rotopiko at the National Wetland Trust’s site. Schools came to take part in the bioblitz, and it was supported by research agency Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research. Dr. Monica Peters won a competition run by Manaaki Whenua to host a BioBlitz and immediately gifted it to the National Wetland Trust. She says she jumped at the chance for members of the public and school students learning more about wetlands. “It’s great to be able to give them [students and the public] an opportunity to come out here and not only visit the site but engage them with scientists as well.” You can see the full article and the youtube video of the event here.
